One of the main rural outreach goals of CRW e.V. for the year 2011 is to supply basic medical equipments (used but functional) and medicines as well as hygienic materials to rural hospitals and health centres in Sub Saharan Africa. This initiative is going to be a long term outreach campaign.

While the first outreach campaign phase runs from summer 2011 to summer 2015, the second campaign phase will begin in summer of 2016. Prior to the second campaign phase in 2016, thorough evaluation of the impact created as well as the challenges faced by communities which benefited from this initiative will be carried out.

 

The primary objective of this campaign is to improve health care delivery services in rural communities across Sub Saharan Africa via the provision of medical equipments to enhance disease diagnosis ability of local clinics and health centres in rural areas and to improve on the hygienic conditions of patient’s wards through provision of beds/or mattresses, pillows and pillow cases, bed shits and blankets to rural health infrastructures in Sub Saharan Africa.

In order to be able to achieve the aim and objective of the current campaign, CRW e.V. is going to be working in partnership with hospitals and hotels in-an-around Berlin-especially regarding the assemblage of used/functional medical equipments, beds, mattresses and laundries (like: Blankets, pillow cases, beds shits), pillows, baby beds and other basic hygiene enhancing items.

The current campaign will be kicking off in summer this year with the shipment of a 40feet container loaded with medical equipments and hygienic materials destined for 6 rural hospitals and health centres in Cameroon.

Apart from Cameroon; within the first campaign phase-especially as from summer 2012; other rural communities especially in countries where CRW e.V. is presently working through the various assistance from local community based partners (Angola, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda) would also be reached.

So far, CRW has received huge material support from Berlin Luxurious hotel-the Ritz Carlton at Potsdamerplatz; Berlin-Germany, Dorint Hotel Convention Centre; Berlin-Germany and a handful of private persons in Berlin. Note however that, the Ritz Carlton Hotel-Berlin, did not only donate hygienic materials to support CRW e.V. 2011 rural health and sanitation campaign but did equally donate a lot of additional goods (valued at about 2000 EUR) that would be sold in our online shop in order to generate funds, that will supplement the shipping cost of assembled equipments and materials to Cameroon.

Efforts for assembling of more equipments and materials from other hospitals and hotels in Berlin as well as private persons are still ongoing! As at now, CRW e.V. envisages dispatching the first container with medical equipments and hygienic materials on or before the end of September 2011. Until then, the top prevailing challenge for this campaign is fiscal cash for shipment of container to various rural destinations in Cameroon.
